Some more pics of Eric's wedding, Rod and Chris, and around Winnipeg.

We had a great trip to Winnipeg this weekend, Eric Walker and Niki Froese got married. It was a beautiful wedding, had lots of fun at the wedding and touring around Winnipeg. We were a little tired when we got back, too many late nights with the Kitwanga bunch...

So here we are again. Back in Sydney after an epic road trip across the country. I've posted here a heap of pics because I don't want to have to write 40.000 words so I figured the pics would really help!!

This is our camper. We got it for next to nothing through a killer website for doing what the Aussies call, "re-location". The vehicle needed to go from Melbourne to Perth so we reckoned we could help. We hit the road on Easter Sunday and went for it @ roughly 90kmh. The next 3,941km had a lot in store for us. We saw heaps and heaps of dead kangeroos, lots and lots of live ones (at night) and roughly 3,941km of pavement.

We went to the Barossa valley and enjoyed some fantastic red. And even some bubbly red, and a little bit of white, and some really nice company.

We went and saw a really cool rock formation called "Murphy's Haystacks." We learned about them in a book that Meli bought a while back. Was a very nice spot to stop for a coffee. We even found the skin of what a local told us was a King Brown snake (somewhat dangerous) next to the skin was the carcus of a medium sized mammal which was indistinguishable, just a skeleton. Mae found it and was checking it out. Didn't take any pictures but we kept the dried skin of the King Brown.

The next big stop was the great Australian Bite. If you look at a map of Australia, it looks like a giant took a bite out of it. From where we were it even looked like he left teeth marks. After then it was a long, long, long straight drive.
We went to the other side of the country and then found a really long pier to walk out onto. It was beautiful, we found some cool birds too that would eat from your hand and even land on your head. It was cool, as long as they didn't drop anything gooey on your head, which luckily didn't happen to us.


This is Mae's best picture. Got Mum and Dad right smack dab in the middle of the picture, a bit of landskape, not too much background so the foreground wasn't too dark. A pretty good job all up! Not bad for a 4 year old.

So that was our trip in a nut shell. Good stuff really. Was a hell of a journey, a lot of kms but a great trip all up. Mae was an absolute trooper. We figured out that Australia doesn't have a lot in the middle but shrubs, sand, kangaroos and not a whole lot of people. The ones we did meet were genuine, nice and open. Good stuff really.
